What Ever Happened to Separation of Church and State?
The state should have no business in the affairs of a sacred institution like marriage.

Actually I agree. However the state does legislate for heterosexual married couples. Strip away those rights and make marriage a purely religious institution OR grant the same rights to all couples.
It is wrong to have one rule for one and a different rule for another.
